Jo Carolyn Larkin was born February 27, 1932 to Squire Lambert and Lou Ellen Jennings Lambert in Quitman, Georgia. A military wife and lifelong traveler, Jo Carolyn lived in New York and California before settling in Columbus, Ohio. She was a 52-year resident of the area known as “The Hilltop” on the city’s Westside. Over the years, she was employed in various capacities including a Nurse’s Assistant at The Ohio State University Medical Center, a Teller at National City Bank, and her favorite job, as a Library Assistant at Highland Elementary School. However, her family was always her main focus. Jo Carolyn raised three generations — her own children, her grandchildren, and she helped with rearing her great grandchildren as well. She was surrounded at all times by her family and they brought her great fulfillment just as she had supplied each of them with an abundance of love and care. At the age of 83, Jo Carolyn Larkin departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 while at her Columbus residence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Candice “Niecy” Larkin and Jacqueline “Jackie” Verdine, brother Charles Lambert, and former husband John B. Larkin. She leaves to cherish her memory, son John Keith (Heather) Larkin; brother Douglas Lambert; grandsons, Corey, Cortez, and Matthew; granddaughters, Canisha, Chaniqua, Chakyra, and Valerie; six great grandsons, six great granddaughters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
