Joan Arena (Weaver) Potts was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 9, 1933. After graduating from West High School, she earned her teaching degree at Ohio State University. Joan married Earl F. Potts on October 24, 1954 and celebrated 66 years of life together. Joan was a true Christian and lady serving tirelessly as treasurer, Sunday School teacher and youth leader and singing in the Choir at Sigsbee Avenue Church of God for many years. Some of her favorite Christian songs were: Why Should He Love Me so, Where Were You When They Crucified My Lord and The Lord’s Prayer. She was adamant that none of her children or grandchildren would ever read their recitations or parts in a play- they had to learn them by heart, and all of them did so. Joan also served as Scout Leader for Girl Scouts Troop #77 for several years. She did arts and crafts, including ceramics and sewing, and made many of the clothes for her children and grandchildren. Known as a very sweet and loving “Lady”, her house was a second home for many of the neighborhood children, and she hosted the best tea parties ever! On Saturday, December 5, 2020, Joan transitioned to Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Samuel and Ruth Weaver, brothers Robert, Freddie and Gilbert II, and sister Annastine Marlow. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband Earl, 3 Children, daughters (and best friend) Deborah Potts and Diane Jones (Michael) and son, Eric (Lloyda); 9 Grandchildren: Jason Potts (Camille), Sean Madison, Nikol Owens (Damon), Richard Scales (Rebecca), Shenice Guice, Eric Potts II (Jamey), Bilan Potts, Brandon Potts (Barbara) and Ashley Potts (Luis); 27 Great grandchildren: Jayonna, Jalen, Justice, Jordan, Jaysean, Kenneth, Jasia, Ke'Von, Eyonce, Jahnea, Monte, Amyah, Eric III, Jade, Elise, Amani, Matthias, Erin, Zahara, Julia, Khloe, Malachi, Scarlett, Julian, Matthieu, Jeremiah, Livia Noelle, and 1 fifth generation great-great granddaughter, Torie; Brothers David (Jennifer) and Donald Weaver, Sisters Ruth Maclin and Judy Talley (Rev.
