Jobie C. Williams, age 68, was born February 4, 1943 in McAlpin, West Virginia, and departed this life on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Mt. Carmel Hospital East. During his childhood, Jobie enjoyed playing baseball and spending time with his brothers and his cousin, Hattie Lewis. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sports and was an excellent softball player. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially barbeques, and hanging with his good friend, Oggie. He worked as a newspaper printer. Jobie is predeceased by his parents, Mable DeBerry Williams and Delvy Williams, and one brother George Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory, son Jobie (Shannon) Williams, Jr.; daughters Tonia D. Williams and Denitra Hairston; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Bowles, Dellave Bowles, Orbit (Sherry) Williams, Patricia Williams, Carolyn (Melvin) Coles, Betty (Darren) McAlister, Mitchell (Ruthie) Williams, and Clifford Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including his close friend, Samuel Wilson Pudding. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
