John A. Rhea, affectionately known as “Johnny Dollar”, was born September 12, 1943 and he departed this life on Monday, November 11, 2013 quietly at his residence. John was a lover of family, fun and life! He was a hard worker and a good steward as he retired from Riverside Methodist Hospital after 38 years of service. He lived what he thought was life to the fullest, until he found salvation through Jesus Christ, accepting Him as his Lord and Savior! He knew then what real living was. He shed many tears, wishing he had accepted this invitation sooner, and spent his final days, admonishing others to give their lives to Christ! His heart was so moved by his brother, Herbert Rhea Jr. who came up from Florida to stay with him and help care for him until he passed. “Herbie” as we know him, became John’s angel from the Lord. He was there every time John moved or called! John, his wife Sherry and Neomi, his older sister, who was there on a daily basis until Herbie came, were so thankful for the support Herbie brought to them in love. John was preceded in death by his parents: Elnora Rhea, mother, and Herbert J. Rhea Sr., father both of Pocahontas Virginia, and residents of Urbancrest Ohio until their passing. John leaves to mourn his memory a loving wife, Sherry Rhea; sons, Charles (Celeste) Coleman; Brian (Kim) Rhea, Duane Tukes, all of Columbus Ohio, John Tukes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; daughter, Terea Tukes of Columbus Ohio; special God-son and nephew, Charles P. Ayers of Columbus Ohio; four brothers, William (Retta) Rhea Sr., Columbus Ohio, Freddie (Margaret) Rhea of Grand Prairie Texas, Herbert J. Rhea Jr, of Florida, Charles R. Rhea of Palo Alto, California; three sisters, Addie Neomi Ayers of Columbus Ohio, Alvenia Rhea (Art) Albright of Naperville Illinois, Evg. Pamela K. Mattox of Columbus Ohio; nine blessed grandchildren, Elijah Rhea, (who was especially close to John), Hannah Coleman, Isaac Coleman, Matthew Tippit, Brian Rhea Jr., Londyn Rhea, Paris Rhea, Jordan Williams, Jada Lebel; special aunt, Hattie Witcher of Palmdale Ca. and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
