John Douglas Wiggins was born in the South end of Columbus on March 28, 1943. His parents were Henry and Nellie Wiggins. He graduated high school from Marion Franklin High School. After high school, John began his career at Grant Hospital and retired from there after 29 years of service. John had several ways that he spent his time in retirement. One of those ways was to enjoy time with his very large family. He was a loving husband, devoted father and a proud grandfather. John also enjoyed listening to Bible talks on his tape machine and attending programs and talks at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he was a devoted member. In his fun time he was a strong Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football fan. He always knew what was going on with his teams. Although John was challenged by his lack of sight, he loved being in the yard and he was a constant handyman, doing his best to fix everything around the house. He was an excellent gardener and grew some of the best collard greens and tomatoes in the neighborhood. He possessed a great sense of humor and could bring much laughter with his quick comebacks and sharp wit. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Rosie, Robert, Gary, David, and Joann, his twin sister, and son Rufus. He is survived by his wife Emma and siblings Catherine (Jim) Strickland, Rhonda (Ray) Hamilton, Margaret Jennings, and Paul (Charlene) Wiggins. Sons, John Jr., John Henry, Robert, David, Ernie, and Richard, daughters, Helen, Emma, Thelma, Joann, Phyllis and Carolyn and a host of grandchildren.
