John Edwards

After a long and tedious battle with Lewy Body dementia, John Edwards, Madison, WI, left his earthly home to join the Lord in his heavenly home October 3, 2023. John was born on October 15, 1939 to the late Mr. Phillip and Alean J. Edwards, Sr. He grew up in the Flytown Community of Columbus, Ohio, attending Columbus City Schools. Memories of life and the people there always brought a smile. He and his family especially appreciated the Godman Guild Association which brought special experiences and a place to be in his young life.

In 1958 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his enlistment he served his active duty at Kirkland Air Force base in New Mexico, then returning to Columbus to finish his enlistment in the reserves.

For the next 42 years, John held many notable positions; however, his primary employment at Mount Carmel West hospital serving in multiple departments. He retired in 2002 to enjoy the rest he had always desired.

John was an avid Smooth Jazz fan and he loved riding his “chopper”, and other motorcycles he owned.

In his early years, John married Ina’Faye Lynch, in this fourteen-year union; sons, Anthony “Tony”, John “Starter” (Radonna), Jr., Kevin (Cynthia) Edwards.

John later, met his loving life partner, Connie Schultz.

Preceding him into eternity were his parents Alean J. (Posey) and Philip, Sr. Edwards; brothers, Philip A., Jr., E. Chester “Boots”, Jacob “Jake”, James A., Thomas “Tommy”, Robert L. “Bobby”, and Charles L. “Chucky.

Cherished memories of John are left with his 3 sons; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; his love, Connie; sisters, Elizabeth Tensley and Mary Edwards-Simpson; as well as, a host of extended family and friends.

The Service of Commemoration will be held October 21, 2023 at Macedonia Baptist Church , 492 Oakwood Ave, Columbus, OH 43205 Columbus, Ohio at 11:00 o'clock with visitation one hour prior to service.

The service will be live streamed from the Diehl-Whittaker web site.

Interment will be at a later date.
