John Hayes

JOHN LINDSEY HAYES was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 16, 1963. He was the son of James Hayes and Lillie Mae Horton Hayes. John received his formal education from Columbus City Schools and attended ARC Industries, a Vocational Habilitation Educational Program. John loved the Lord and was affiliated with the Baptist Faith.

John loved spending time with his family and friends – eating, dancing, singing, laughing, joking around, and just having fun. He enjoyed watching western movies, cartoons, and playing his harmonica. His true passion, as it runs through the Hayes family, was his love of cars. He loved any kind of car, diecast muscle cars, sports cars, classic cars, trucks, little cars, big cars, and of any color. If you gave him a Hotwheel car, his face would light up so bright with excitement.

John had a heart and soul of a child. He loved everyone in his life. He never knew a stranger. He would approach you with a hug, smile, and a handshake. He would introduce himself as “John Hayes,” every time, whether he knew you personally or not, and greeted you with a great big hug, if he missed you.

John L. Hayes entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 18, 2022. He was fifty-nine years of age. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Richard J. Hayes and brother-in-law, David E. Ross.

Loving memories are cherished by his sisters, Savannah Hayes-Shehy and Mary F. Hayes-Ross; brother, Dwayne S. Hayes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and beloved friends.
