John L. Hare

John L. Hare passed away peacefully on July 6, 2019. He was born on March 28, 1950 in Laurel, MS to John and Bessie Hare. He was raised in a family of 8 children (one brother and six sisters). He acquired business skills early in life starting with a paper route at age 9. John later became a part of the Executive Business Program in high school. Additionally, he took college business enrichment to obtain the skills necessary to succeed in life. John obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Illinois Chicago and majored in Industrial Psychology with a minor in Business Administration. He married his high school sweetheart (Ollie) after graduating in 1973. John’s professional career soared over the years, relocating from Chicago to Cincinnati, then back to Chicago, Columbus, Pennsylvania, and finally back to Columbus. He displayed progressive leadership skills in the Direct Consumer and Retail Operations industry where he managed logistic/distribution resources. John served as VP of distribution operations for QVC, VP operations for Spiegel Inc., and Montgomery Wards. John enjoyed family, grandkids, and friends. His greatest accomplishment was connecting with his family. He loved his wife, kids, and grandkids so much. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, two sons, John Hare and Jacque Hare (Sonia); daughter, Marja Hare; grandchildren; Jalen, Milana, Alessandra, Sebastian, Jacque Benicio, and Jordyn; four sisters, Minnie King (Herbert), Rosemary Butler Jones, Ruby Feagin (Gary), Delores Mallinger (Gene); one brother, Greg Hare (Pat); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in laws, and amazing friends. He was proceeded in death by his loving parents John & Bessie Hare, and his sisters Mary Kay Hare and Christann Woodard (Christopher).
