John L. 'Smiley' Redd

John L. Redd, 76, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. John was born March 25, 1936 in Goodman, Mississippi and spent his formative years in Chicago, Illinois before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He resided in Columbus, Ohio for over 50 years, where he was a longtime employee of the City of Columbus, Sewage and Drainage Division. Many co-workers and friends knew John by the nickname Smiley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade Redd and Lorraine Simmons Redd, as well as his brother Thomas Duncan. Those who remain to cherish memories of John are his loving wife LIssie Redd; sons, Landers, Calvin, Anthony, Christopher, Cox, and Reese Alfred; daughter Denise Martin; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
