John Richard Martin

August 26, 1937 — March 15, 2012

John Richard Martin, who had a big open heart, who deeply loved his family and friends, who wanted everyone around him to be happy, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his: wife Juanita, mother Dorothy B. Martin, father John Nick Martin, and brother Orlando Akie Martin. Surviving relatives include siblings: Mary Moss, Sherdinia Cross (Thomas), James Pete (Ann) and Isaiah Jake his long-time companion Lois Babbert; five children: Rick (Tamera), Teresa, Brenda, Cassandra (Jim) and Ronald (Teresa); fifteen grandchildren and two great ¬grandchildren and the Edwards family of Columbus, Ohio. He grew up in Martinsville/Spencer, Virginia and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1960, where he and Juanita raised their family on Roxbury Rd. He worked hard at Buckeye Steel Castings for 33 years and in landscaping until the time of his death. Known as John to his customers, he was a dedicated and loving friend. In 1994, he moved to Pataskala, Ohio where he lived on a farm with horses, ducks, cows, and a collection of vintage cars. Friend to all, John Richard passed away with a smile on his face. We are grateful that he is resting in perfect peace.
