John Simmons Jr

John James Simmons Jr. (80 yrs old), was called home on 8/14/2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was a widower of Josephine Simmons who passed away in 1999. They shared 29 amazing years married together.

Born in Columbus, Ohio. John was the son of John James Simmons Sr. and Lovella Dexter. He attended the Ohio School for the Deaf. Later on in his life, he worked for Vassco as a construction worker.

John Simmons Jr. also known as “Jitter Bug” enjoyed multiple hobbies such as hunting, fishing, traveling and, spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his bubbly and helpful attitude. John was also a big jokester. His favorite saying was “Bad Boy”.

John Simmons Jr. and Josephine Simmons leave behind their legacy of four children. Joannie Simmons, Estelle Simmons, David Simmons and, Bobby Simmons. Grand babies are Raquela Taylor/Robinson and John Robinson (husband), Dorrika Simmons, David Simmons Jr., Taniko Woods, Timia Taylor, Tanyjiah Woods, Darnell Taylor Jr., Marqueitta Simmons, TayVaughn Woods and Tayshionna Woods. Also multiple great grand babies.

The funeral service will be held at Diehl Whittaker on 8/22/2024 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. Viewing will be held from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Final resting place will be at Green Lawn Cemetery at 1000 Greenlawn Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43223.
