John Toone Iii

John Randall Toone III was born in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, June 17, 1950. He was the son of Vernell and John Toone Jr. John received his formal education from Columbus City Schools and was a graduate of Eastland Vocational School, completing a four-year Electrical Apprenticeship. He furthered his education at Columbus Technical Institute (currently known as Columbus State Community College), where he earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.

John was a licensed Ohio Master Electrician. He was employed as an electrician at Rockwell International and was an electrical inspector for The Ohio State University Architect’s Office and the Ohio Department of Public Works.

In his leisure, John enjoyed bicycling. He was a member of the Major Taylor Bicycle Club of Columbus. He also was an avid sports fan, supporting the Lakers and the Buckeyes, his favorite teams.

Significant milestones in his life were traveling to Japan, South Africa, and Europe. While in the United States Army, he toured Germany; and finally, a fulfilled aspiration and dream of retiring at age fifty-five.

Our beloved John R. Toone III entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. He was seventy-two years of age. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Damon Tinsley; sister, Jacqueline Davis; and brother, Ray Richardson.

Loving memories are cherished by his daughters, Lynne Hendricks, Liana Rivera, Layne Moss, Alyson Toon-Aguilar; son, Stanley Hendricks; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Young, Joanne Gleghorn, Dorothey Whitaker, and Mary Moore; a host of other family members and dear friends.
