John W. Mundell, 65, born January 4, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio, was called home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. John spent his youth in Flytown, a city of its own, and attended Central High School. He worked at Ohio Malleable until it closed and later became a dedicated employee of The Ohio State University until he retired. He was an avid OSU basketball and football fan and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and attending family gatherings. John was a good man and a good friend to a lot of people. He would do whatever he could for you. He was preceded in death by his mother Ellen Mundell, father John Talley, son John L. Mundell, and a host of other relatives. John leaves to mourn, a daughter Kim (Kevin) McDonald; grandchildren, Rodney Osborne, Jr., Kayla McDonald, Kesslyn McDonald, Raveyn DeJarnett, and Raquel DeJarnett; two brothers Robert (Linda) Mundell and Ardell Mundell; three sisters, Karen Mundell, Cherylann Mundell, and Tina Mundell; former wife and dear friend Brenda Mundell; daughter-in-law Evelyn Mundell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including very close friend Amazetta Abbington. Funeral Service 2 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Special thanks to all of the family members and friends who often assisted John with his medication and transportation. Thank you for visiting him at Columbus Rehabilitation and Subacute Care Center, watching the OSU football and basketball games, and bringing him special treats when he requested.
