John William Layne

John William Layne was born on September 26, 1969 to Jeanetta M. Henderson Layne and Elmer T. Layne in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Northland High School where he played football and went on to graduate from Columbus State Community College. John was employed with Conduent as a Senior Customer Support Specialist. John lived a rich and blessed life and he was a friend and Christian brother to many. John was a member of the East 18TH Avenue Prayer and Bible Mission where he participated in the Male Choir and Men's Fellowship. We will hold dear in our hearts the multitude of loving gifts he gave us during his lifetime. He gave us the rich treasure of his kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, advice and encouragement. His quick wit, sense of humor and knowledge of numerous topics from world history to present day news was unparalleled. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast who enjoyed college football and basketball. He enjoyed engaging with his younger nieces and nephews, from playing practical jokes on them to debating current events. Our beloved John passed away on July 30, 2018 at the age of 48. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer T. Layne, grandfathers William H. Layne and John E. Henderson; grandmothers Josephine Justice Layne and Ida Padget Henderson. Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jeanetta M. Layne; brothers, Larry S. Layne, Randall R. (Rhonda) Layne, Victor A. (Brenda) Layne and Robert K. Layne; sisters, Wanda L. Layne and Sondra K. Layne Barbour; nephews, George B. Barbour, Victor A. Layne, II, Thomas W.H. (Christy) Layne, and Vincent A. Layne; nieces, Bailey N. Barbour and Shannon B. Barbour; great nephew, Theon Layne; great niece, Kami Layne; uncles, Robert A. (Linda) Layne, Stafford (Carol) Layne, Clarence (Lady) Henderson; aunts, Faustina Bails, Louise Layne, Geraldine Gwynn, Mary (Cecil) Price, Georgia (Willie) McClendon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
