Mrs. Johnnie Mae Larry Woodhouse, age 81, departed this life on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. She was born October 25, 1931 to Katie (Brown) Larry and Charles Larry and attended school in Sandusky, Ohio. Johnnie was the first African-American Registered Nurse to graduate from Providence School of Nursing in 1954. As an educator and an innovator in the field of nursing Johnnie worked at Providence Hospital where she dedicated her life to caring for others and was very active in the community and her church. Married to Clarence J. Woodhouse, the union brought forth four children. Predeceased by brother, Charles Larry Jr.; sister, Grace Larry and daughters, Pamela Woodhouse and Baby Woodhouse. She is survived by her son, Clarence J. Woodhouse II (Mary) Columbus, OH; daughter, Rhea A. Wiggs (David); grandchildren, James A. Mackie III, Sophia Wiggs, Matthew Wiggs, and Olivia Wiggs; sister, Megeata Jones (Leanel); great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and dear friends. Johnnie was a member of Second Baptist Church in Columbus, OH.
