Jordan Vivian Davis, nee Coleman, one of ten children born to the late Christopher P. and Eva I. Coleman. She was born on October 27, 1926 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Vivian graduated from Austin High School in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1943. She attended Tennessee State University in Nashville and completed her secretarial training at a business school in Chattanooga. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Carl Davis Jr. on September 10, 1948. To this union, two daughters were born, Caryl Michele and Evangelyn. She was the proud and doting grandmother of Bruce Carleton Taylor, Jordan B. Davis, Laura Ashley Wynn and Brandon D. Davis. Vivian was employed by the Columbus Board of Education as a secretary for 28 years; having served in several Columbus City Schools. Vivian was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for more that 50 years. Her service to her church included membership of the Senior Choir, where she was often a soloist. Singing was one of her joys in life. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the American Bridge Association where she served as secretary during the years that she traveled with the Association. She was also a member of the Columbus Friday Night Bridge Club. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher P. Coleman Jr., Marvin Coleman and most recently John O, Coleman Sr. on July 31, 2011. As she leaves us to join the angels, she leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Michele (William) Womack and Evangelyn (Jerome) Mock; beloved sisters, Dorothy E,. Walker, Lillian G. Coleman, Sarah (Clinton) Branner, all of Knoxville, TN and Margaret (Charles) Cowherd and Annie M. Loggans of Columbus, OH; and her grandchildren, Bruce, Jordan, Ashley and Brandon; two sisters-in-law, Carla Davis (William) Hicks and Mary Coleman; and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
