Joy Celeste (Woolwine) Atwater

Joy Celeste Woolwine Atwater, age 72, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Johnson City, TN, passed Thursday, July 28, 2011 of cardiac arrest at Mt. Carmel East Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1939 to Thadeus and Geneva Woolwine in Washington, DC. She graduated from Ohio Dominican University in the 1980's, and worked for many years in Columbus as an Adult Education Instructor. She was predeceased by her mother and father, and in 1994 lost her daughter, Jennifer Traci Atwater, age 27, and four grandchildren, Brandon, 9; Sergio, 7; Joseph, 2; and Jazzmene, 1, due to a house fire. Joy leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Virginia E. Woolwine; and grandson, Jordan Atwater, of Gahanna, whom she greatly loved. Her brother, Prince Albert Woolwine, of Garland, TX, survives his older sister's death, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends - especially our dog Tazz, who mourn the loss of Joy's dynamic presence.
