Joycelyn Linetta Sanders-Ware departed this life Friday, April 1, 2022, in Dayton, OH.

The youngest of three children, Joycelyn was born on Monday July 20, 1964 to the union of Ernest Lenwood Sanders, Jr. and Elizabeth Wilder Sanders, in Columbus, OH. She grew up to become a phenomenal young lady and mother.

At an early age, Joycelyn accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was a member of the World Harvest Church in Columbus, OH.

"Joycie," as she was affectionally called by her family and friends, graduated from Walnut Ridge High School, and attended North Carolina A & T State University at Greensboro. She graduated from Ohio State School of Cosmetology.

Joycelyn married Joseph Dehaven Ware Sr. on March 28, 1992, and to this union were born four children. Joycelyn was a devoted and loving mother. Though strict at times, she adored her children.

Joycelyn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest Lenwood, Sr. and Ollie Mae Sanders, and Millie Burrell; her aunts, Marlene Sanders Jones and Nannie Burrell Wooden; and her uncles, Carl Louis Sanders, Sr. and Robert Edward Sanders, II.

Joycelyn is survived by her sons, Joseph Dehaven Ware Jr., of Columbus, OH; and Jonathan Francis Ware, of Newport News, VA; daughters Jessica Lynn Ware and Jordan Rene Ware, both of Columbus, OH; mother, Elizabeth Sanders of Columbus, OH; father, Ernest Lenwood Sanders, Jr., and stepmother, Sylvia Sanders, of Garner, NC; sisters: Crystal Lynn Sanders of Garner, NC; Stephanie Rene Sanders of Columbus, OH; adopted sister, Andrea Michelle Mazeke of Columbus, OH; many first cousins and friends.

Joycelyn spent her remaining days taking care of Mrs. Smalls at her residence in Dayton, OH, where she cooked, cleaned, and assisted her godmother in day-to-day tasks, bringing a new light into her "Aunt Mildred's" life. Joycelyn loved taking care of people and putting other people before herself.

As we mourn the loss of our Joycie, we, her family, offer these words in her memory from the poem "Success" by Bessie Anderson Stanley and the novel Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison:

"She has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men, and the love of little children;
Who has filled her niche and accomplished her task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than she found it,
Whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best she had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction." - Bessie Anderson Stanley

"...And she was LOVED." - Toni Morrison, Song of Solomon
