Juanita Laura Spencer

Juanita Laura Spencer, born on June 25, 1918 went from labor to reward on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the age of 95. She was best known for being the owner of Spencer’s Market, home of the 10 cent coney islands from the mid 1940s until the late 1970s. She was an icon who also was known for her love, kindness and giving nature. On her 95th birthday, she was recognized at the King Arts Complex with a party where the guest count exceeded 200. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by husband Richard E. Spencer, Sr.; brothers John and Douglas Burton; sister Evelyn Burton. She is survived by daughter, Saundra; son, Richard Jr. “Rick” (Michelle); special daughter, Brenda Davis; brothers, Herbert (Betty) Burton and Homer Burton both of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Kuniko Burton of Tacoma, Washington; beloved grandson, MJ Davis; special nephew, Joseph Holloway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to the following for all their support and care; Rev.
