Juanita Laverne (Bayless) Baskerville

February 20, 1924 — January 19, 2017

Juanita Laverne (Bayless) Baskerville was born February 20, 1924 in Ridgeway, Ohio. She graduated from Ridgeway High School, where she was a star basketball player, and went on to work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Juanita met Arthur Baskerville in Xenia, Ohio and they united in holy matrimony more than seventy years ago in Dayton. In the early 80's, she retired from a career with the federal government after many years of service as a Freight Rate Specialist at the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus. An exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Juanita loved to exercise and especially enjoyed keeping fit through her active involvement in aerobics, line dancing, and bowling. She was known for knitting afghans and she was an exceptional cook whose fried corn was legendary. Over the years, Juanita and Art traveled to many destinations around the world and visited many casinos. Juanita also loved gardening and shopping until anyone with her dropped. She was a longtime member of St. Dominic Church and served with the Alter Rosary Society. On Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the age of 92, Juanita went home to the Lord peacefully at her residence in Columbus. Her son, Earl Baskerville, and mother Leota Bayless, preceded her in death. Those who remains to cherish many wonderful memories of Juanita include her loving husband Arthur E. Baskerville; daughter Estelle (Richard) Diehl; son Ronald (Carmen) Baskerville; grandchildren, Damien (Alisha) Baskerville, Tanya Baskerville, Aaron Diehl and Ingrid Diehl; great grandchildren, Chanel Crow, Cobe Marlor, Jada Baskerville, Aaliyah Baskerville, and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks are extended to Margaret Agyapong, for her compassionate care; Ohio Health Homereach, especially Andrea Johnson and Renee Penson; staff in the ER and Elderly Care Unit at Grant Medical Center; staff of Zusman Hospice; and to all those who sent flowers, cards, called, visited, and offered other thoughtful and helpful gestures during her illness. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Dominic Church in honor of Juanita L. Baskerville. Service: St. Dominic Church 453 N. 20th St. Columbus, OH 43203
