Juanita Whatley was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 9, 1952 to William and Louise Whatley. She departed this life on January 21, 2021 due to health issues. While attending Monroe Junior High, Juanita enjoyed being in the spelling bee competitions. She received a spelling bee Certificate of Achievement from The Citizen Journal. She later graduated from East High School. Juanita had a variety of interesting jobs, but she retired from Franklin County Department of Jobs and Family Services with over 25 years of service. While working there, she took some classes at Columbus State to enhance her skills. Juanita's passion was cooking. She had a wide collection of different types of cookbooks that she enjoyed preparing meals from and adding her own special touch. Those who tasted her cooking said her food was simply delicious! In her former years, she enjoyed going on trips and outings with her church group and friends. She loved to laugh and have fun. She especially enjoyed the trips to Canada. Later in life she became a homebody and somewhat a private person. If she allowed someone into her life, they were considered special. She was always willing to attend special events or activities that her godchildren were involved in and give her utmost support. They were the joy of her life! Juanita had a sweet personality, a giving spirit and a heart that was willing to help others. She will be missed by many! She is preceded in death by parents, William and Louise Whatley and brother, Ralph Whatley. Juanita leaves to cherish her memory, brother, Jasper (Myong Cha) Whatley of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Helen (Robert) Tatum, Mary (John) Goins, Carolyn Whatley and Debbie Whatley, all of Columbus, Ohio; godchildren; Alisha Bradford, Aliya Colbert, Kiara Colbert, Jayla Colbert and Joshua Colbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
