Junitta Darnell

Ms. Junitta Darnell, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away December 17, 2018 at Pataskala Oaks Care Center. Junitta, affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Nanny” was born March 19, 1932 in Washington, DC to Claude Melvin Mayfield Sr. and Eunice Martin- Mayfield and was a graduate of South high school in Youngstown, Ohio. She spent 30yrs. in Phoenix, AZ where she retired as a STNA and later moved to North Carolina where she was cared for by her niece Jamilah until she moved to Columbus, Ohio. She was of the Seven Day Adventist faith attending Temple Emanuel SDA church in Youngstown, Ohio and South Mountain SDA church In Phoenix Arizona. Junitta enjoyed attending yearly Martin-Sanders & Culp family reunions and spending time with her family. She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Lester(Cathy) Darnell, sister Sally Montgomery, 4 grandchildren, Robert (Shannon) Darnell Sr., Isaac (Tammy) Darnell Sr., Joi ( LaVar) Paige, Monique Darnell, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends. She was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by her parents, daughter Judy Darnell, a twin sister Alpharetta Mayfield, brother Claude “Jr” Mayfield & sister Gloria Tucker. The family of Junitta would like to thank you for your shared memories & prayers during this difficult time.
