Kathleen, aged 88, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, at her home in Columbus, Ohio.
Born on January 6, 1936, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Kathleen was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse and Flossie (Burks) Ross. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1954 and went to Piedmont Nursing School to earn a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1958.
Kathleen married (divorced 86) Kelly McNeil in 1959. Kathleen was blessed with three sons, Rodney (Pat – Deceased), Kelly (Vickie), and her youngest baby son, Ken (Teneika), who were the pride and joy of her life. Kathleen was also a devoted grandmother to three grandchildren: Kelly McNeil, Madison McNeil, and Olivia McNeil. Also, extended family Catherine Burks (James Howard Burks – Deceased), Byron Burks, Neal Burks, and Keith Burks. Finally, her best friend and companion, Robert Rutledge.
Kathleen's career at the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC now DSCC) as a supply administrator was a testament to her dedication, integrity, and commitment. Her 33 years of service were marked by deep respect from her colleagues and lasting friendships.
Kathleen was a member of Faith Ministries Church, a devout Christian, and a professional in the art of Facebook. Her strong advocacy for women's rights and freedoms reflected her unwavering commitment to equality.
Kathleen’s warmth and unwavering positivity were personal traits and the tools she used to touch the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, a quality that will be deeply missed.
Kathleen will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service 1370 East Main Street Columbus, Ohio 43205.
