KATHRYN RAMONA MCGOWAN was born Tuesday, December 18, 1956, in Welch, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Shelby Green and Charles Rosenbalm. She was affectionately called Kathi by family and friends. Kathryn received her formal education from Columbus City Schools. She was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School and continued her education at Columbus State Community College. In high school, Kathryn was an honor student. She aspired to work in business and took various business classes. She was an exemplary typist. Kathryn was employed with Raphael Nursing Home, Orient Institute, and Amertech. The most significant milestone in her life was raising her three children, Marti, Marlon, and Britanii. In her leisure, Kathryn enjoyed reading, crocheting, singing, and was a pro in playing Ms. Pacman and Centipede. She loved listening to music, especially Marvin Gaye. Kathryn was a Christian and loved the Lord. Kathryn R. McGowan, age 63, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. She is predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Elbert McGowan; father, Charles Rosenbalm; grandmother, Elizabeth Burnett; and uncle, Samuel Burnett. Loving memories are cherished by her mother, Shelby Green; daughter, Britani McGowan; sons, Marte (Renee) Rosenbalm, Marlon M. (Rochelle) McGowan; adopted son, Richard Wade; grandchildren, Aiden Jay Maynard, Caige Coleman, DoKota Coleman, Ajhani Kidd, Malcolm Wade, Miles Wade, Nazyr McGowan, Mikayla Wilkerson, Nevaeh Hollingsworth, and Michelle René “Grand Cat” McGowan; brother, Eddie Rosenbalm and Ben (Lynne) Green II; sisters, Micheyl Rosenbalm and Benette Green; Ben (Lynne) Green II; aunt, Bessie Rosenbalm; nieces, Brionna Rosenbalm, Shaantia Green, Shelvonna Green, Samantha (Ryan) Panknin, Tatum Shepherd, and Aleice Shepherd; nephews, Daaron (Danelle) Dixon, Dustyn (Allie) Dixon, Walter Green, Ben Green III, L’liss Green, Antjuan Riley, Toryn Green; a host of other family members and friends.

Beginning at 1pm, at the family's request, doors will open for a walk-through viewing with staggered admission of up to10 people at a time. For the mutual wellness and respect of those present, all visitors are asked to wear an appropriate face covering, apply an alcohol-based hand sanitizer spray upon entry, and maintain proper distancing according to current public health guidelines. We encourage you to utilize Kathryn's memorial celebration wall to send flowers and post an expression of sympathy and support for the family. A receptacle will also be available for on-site collection of sympathy cards and condolence letters.
