Kay Adrienne Lucas was born on May 9, 1936 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Vernon W. and Eleanor (Craddolph) Keels. Kay accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. Kay graduated at age 16 as the Valedictorian from Cadmus High School. In 1954, Kay was crowned Emancipation Queen. She moved to Columbus, in 1955, and began her employment working for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and for Woolco’s in Great Southern Shopping Center. Later on, Kay became a partner of the Lucas Trucking Company. For a period of time, Kay also worked as a secretary for Clair United Methodist Church. She finished her working career as a Senior Tax Advisor 5 at HR Block where she worked for 28 years. Kay was a dedicated and conscientious tax preparer who strived to provide the best service to her clients. Kay passed away on December 15, 2015 while at Zusman Hospice in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to her parents, her sisters, Greta Marlene Keels and Deloris Jean Keels, preceded her in death. She was the beloved wife to Gordon Lucas; the devoted mother to Randall (Eileen) Lucas, Maria Lucas, and Dr. Jonathan (Dara) Lucas; and the cherished Nana to Kalea and Keenan Lucas, and Jonah Lucas. In addition to her immediate family, she was surrounded by the love of her siblings, Patri (Nancy) Keels, Patricia White, Carole Gutierrez, Janice (Austin) Washington, and Marshall Keels, and the love of her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Above all else, family was important to Kay as she treasured the precious moments she shared with all her family at all occasions.
