Keith Jermaine 'K.D.' Dennis

August 3, 1975 — September 23, 2017

Keith Jermaine Dennis was born August 3, 1975 to Sylvester Dumas and Sandra Dennis in Columbus, Ohio, where he would remain a lifelong resident. On September 23, 2017, at the age of 42, Keith departed this earthly life at The Ohio State University Medical Center’s Arthur G. James Comprehensive Cancer Center, after a long battle with breast cancer. In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brothers, James Corley, Sylvester Dumas, Jr., and Zack Dumas, grandfather Joseph Dennis, grandmother Georgia Nell Dennis, great grandfather Elmo Dennis, great grandmother Fannie Mae Dennis Johnson, aunt Margaret Dennis, brother-in-law Nikolaj, great nephew Tijan Dennis, and best friends, Justin Tyler and Jeremy King. Left to cherish memories of Keith are his children, Davien Dozier, Kylie Dennis, and Kasandra Dennis; sisters, Vonn, Rose Dumas, Vann Dumas, and Angie Dumas; brothers, Michael Dennis and Nick Matthews; aunt Dorothy Prater; nephews, Cashmere, Michael, James, Demetrius, Charles, and Nick; great nephews, Cashmere, Nasir, Amir, and C.J., his significant other of fifteen years, Stephanie Miller; very close friends, Mann Reavish, James Thomas, Clarence Tyree, Monty, and Al; and a host of other relatives and friends. Those who knew Keith well will remember him as being quiet and laid-back at times, yet still with an outgoing personality and a giving spirit. He had a way of connecting with people on many different levels and thus his circle of friends was made up of individuals from all walks of life. Keith, or “K.D.” as he was also known, was someone you could depend on to be there when you needed him. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his children who were a source of great pride and joy for him. Keith was a great cook – a skill he acquired from his mother and later took time to share with his longtime sweetheart. He was also an avid automobile enthusiast who spent a great deal of time tinkering around with the body work and mechanics of old cars. Perhaps his most prized possession was his beloved “Green Machine,” a 1973 Buick Century that he helped restore to its current state. Following a close second, would likely be the carefully crafted photo journal that his girlfriend made just for him one Father’s Day as a way of permanently documenting the entire restoration process from start to finish.
