On January 18th, 2024, our precious angel was called home after a silent battle with Leukemia. She was born to William Minnis and Karen Bell, on August 25, 2009.
Kelis was in the eighth grade at Columbus Performance Academy getting ready for her next chapter of life. Kelis had a passion for dance and everything fancy that sparkled. She shared her love of dance on TikTok on the regular.
Lovingly nicknamed “Mother Hen” by her kindergarten teacher; Kelis cherished her friends who you’d always find her on the phone with if she was awake, often injecting her helpful thoughts with the best of intentions. When she wasn’t caring for her mother she was joking and trash talking with her Step-father whose family she loved visiting in Cincinnati. She took care of everyone she loved and could get a little snappy at times but she took care of business.
One to take pride in taking care of herself, she was always polished and ready to go, she’d be right behind you as you headed out the door. The youngest of seven she lived every day as if she came first never sparing a loving word or slight, lol. Kelis was an all-around super star who had a love for everything that sparkled, a true reflection of the person we all knew her to be.
She is joined in the heavens above by her father, William Minnis; nephew, Jaxson Minnis; grandparents, William (Jean) Minnis, Jr.; and uncle, Calvin Miller.
Those earthly bound to carry her memory, mother, Karen Bell; step-father, Charles Finley; sister, Kaylin Minnis; brother, Kwame Minnis, Kareim Minnis, Terrell Perry, William Minnis IV, Kyren Minnis ; grandparents, Kim (Ernest) Bell, Arlinda (George) Taylor, Pamela Slaughter; aunts and uncles, Christina Bell, Eric (Rebekah) Bell, Deanna Slaughter, Tara Reese, Lynn Hopewell and a host of family and friends.
Her joy will be missed, her presence will be remembered and we will always love her. Kelis was a beautiful young lady, filled with character and pizazz. She knew how to brighten up a room and she loved having fun with her siblings.
