Larry Roderick Carter

February 5, 1957 — September 21, 2014

Larry Roderick Carter, the son of Joseph M. Carter, Sr. and Phyllis J. Freeman, began his journey of life on February 5, 1957 in Hopedale, Ohio. He attended the Harrison Public Schools and graduated from Cadiz High School in 1975. In 1979, Larry graduated from Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor degree in Business Management. While attending OU, he became a part of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was employed with the United Parcel Service (UPS) for more than fifteen years. Larry spent much of his free time on several passions he had in life, such as laying carpet and flooring, playing golf, and restoring old cars. On Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the age of 57, Larry was called home while at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Doris Jean Reese-Carter; two sons, Nathaniel (Lamar) and Aaron Carter; father, Joseph (Carolyn) Carter; mother, Phyllis (Charles) Freeman; two grandchildren, Nathanuel and Kiana Carter; three stepchildren, Tonya, Rhonda, and Brandon Reese; five brothers, Joseph of Columbus, Jeffrey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, David of Toledo, Ohio, Danny of Canton, Ohio, and Ricky of Alliance, Ohio; six sisters, Norma, Evonne, and Margaret, all of Steubenville, Ohio, Tearna Tee and Lucretia, both of Alliance, and Delores of New York, New York; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including his dear friends of over 30 years, George Baker of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Turner and Jerry Woodland, both of Columbus. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the sympathy, comforting words, prayers, and all expressions of kindness and concern. May God continue to bless you.
