Lauretta Sims (Cruz) stepped into eternity on June 25, 2015. She was born in Marianna, Fla. on January 6, 1938 and later moved to Pensacola, Fla. She was a resident of Columbus, Ohio for 62 years. She was previously employed at DCSC and later became a owner of The Helping Hands Home, caring for seniors. She was a long term member of the Central Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was predeceased by her mother, Pearlie Mae Sylvester-Newton; father, Cicero Sims, brothers, Raymond Sims and Eddie Newton; and sister, Marie Sims. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, William Walker, Gwendolyn (Lawrence) Harper; Stephen (Linda) Walker; Marvin (Mattie) Walker; Kimberly (Earl) Lawson; Cynthia (Darryl) Neal; Jessie (Tether) Wilson; very special daughter, Brenda Hill; sisters, Ada Milroe; brothers, Willie (Joyce) Newton, James L. (Cora) Newton sister-in-law, Fannie Newton of Pensacola, FL; brother-in-law, William Wilson and sister- in-law, Catherine Childs, both of Columbus, OH, and a host of nieces and nephews. 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of special grandchildren of love. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
