Lee Esther May Spencer-Gibbs departed this life peacefully at her home, on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Lee, as she was affectionally known to family and friends was born April 13, 1949 in Mindon, West Virginia. She previously lived in Springfield, Ohio, Hampton, Virginia, and Columbus, Ohio. Lee obtained her associate, bachelor, and master degree's in Theology from Christian Life School of Theology. Becoming a minister and acquiring her 3 three theology degrees was her greatest aspiration. She was a faithful member of Apostolic Faith Temple where she served as a minister and usher. Lee Esther retired from Columbus City Schools as an Instructional Assistant. She also worked for Columbus Recreation and Parks Department during the schools summer break. Lee loved working with children and helping them learn. Lee enjoyed cross stitching, embroidery, competitive games, and Thomas Kincade paintings. She was preceded in death by her father, William Mathis Vance, mother Dollie Rosa Vance, and brother Earnest Milton Washington. She is survived by her husband, Walter Theodore Gibbs; son, Ne'Roy Mathis Carter; daughter, Samelethia Devon Hairston (Albert); brothers, Tyrone Demont Washington (Beverly), Thomas Dewayne Smith (Rhonda), sisters, Linda Marie Booker, Johnnettia Love, Sallie Devon Swope (John); grandsons, Trevor Carter, Dayvion Carter, Demarai Carter, Jaylin Carter, Jaiceon Carter; granddaughters, Maleia Hairston, Natasha Hairston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lee touched many lives with her kind heart and generosity. She will be greatly missed.
