Mother Lela Rayford was born July 5, 1919 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late Zack and Mattie Ashford. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2013. She united in holy matrimony to late John W. Rayford on September 18, II 1937, and to this union three children were born. Not only did she show love to her own children, but she loved and raised approximately 20 foster children. During her spare time she enjoyed knitting, sewing and caring for her children, foster children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On November 11, 2007, she joined the Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Bishop Donald J. Washington. Mother Rayford was preceded in death by husband; John W. Rayford, children; Bessie and Johnnie Matt Rayford, parents; Zack and Mattie Ashford, sib¬lings; Ceaser Ashford, J.T. Ashford, George Ashford, Mann Ashford, Charlotte Jackson, Leona Nash and Elnora Ashford. She leaves to cherish her memories son; Elwood (Jean) Rayford; foster children; Mark (April) Chaney, Bradley Rowland, Anthony (Diane) Hugley and Augusta Hughley; step-brother; Roosevelt Rayford, from Toledo, Ohio; daughter-in-law; Barbara Jean Rayford, of Poller, Georgia; grandchildren, Barbara (Larry) Turner, Gregory Rayford, Mark Rayford, Cassandra (Curtis) Beasley, Pamela Sealey, Schneice (Andre) Jackson, Shlonda Sealey, Kimberly (Arquellio) Gillespie, Lucretia (Riley) Hawkins, Johnnie Rayford-Henderson, Michelle Riveria, Tonia Savdige and Elwood (Beverly) Rayford, Jr., many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and one great, great-great grandchild; Heavony Lynn Rayford, special niece; Picolia Brooks, sister-in-law; Ada Williams; brother-in-law; Johnny Lee Rayford and other relatives and friends.
