Lenora Knowles

Lenora Knowles was born on March 25, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio. She transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Gladys Carter and grand-daughter Candyo Knowles.

As a child, she lived on East Granville Street and went to Mt. Vernon Avenue School, Second Avenue School in grades 4th - 6th, Everett Junior High from grades 7th - 9th, and finished grades 10th -12th at Central High School graduating in January 1955. It was the last January graduation they had.

During her earlier years she married, worked, and raised four children. She worked at several places throughout her life including the Board of Elections for 40 years as a Precinct Election Official, Lazarus, Borden Milk Company, Lerner’s Clothing Store, and retired from Columbus State Community College.

Lenora enjoyed life, traveling, her favorite TV shows, modeling, and dressing with style. Those who knew her found her to be quite a fashion queen. Clothing and household items always connected us to her because of her consignment shop. She was known to be very resourceful and had no problem telling you her opinion about anything. Her love for family and friends was always felt by her check-in phone calls, food sharing, opportunities to do things together for community projects, and/or hanging out enjoying a social event.

In 2004, she gave her life to Christ, became a member of Apostolic Faith Temple where she served as a greeter, and participated in plays, and other church activities when possible.

Lenora leaves not to mourn, but to cherish her memories, a sister Doris Perry, and children William "Billy" Knowles, Debbie Knowles, Clarence Knowles, Derrick Knowles Sr.: four grandchildren Sharona Knowles, Lenora R. Knowles, Derrick Knowles Jr., Taylor Knowles, and seven great-grandchildren: Eugene Fragoso, Clarence-Romeli, Alessandro Romeli-Knowles, Isabella Crabtree, Tavon Barritt-Knowles, Chase Knowles, and Jaxon Marier.
