Leona Betty Hartgrove, 74 died suddenly on July 4, 2022 at her assisted living residence. The daughter of the late William Richard Pack and Beatrice Holliman Pack born on January 28, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart Jesse Jerome Hartgrove on January 15, 1966. Of her marriage, she had three beautiful children: Virginia Lee, Gary Anthony, and Dwayne Allen Hartgrove. Later in her life, after separating from Jesse, she had two children with then partner Robert Baker, daughter Cassandra Ann and stillborn son Fred Baker.
Leona was child #4 out of 14 children including her cousin who was adopted into their family, Tyrone who was raised as her brother. She was raised in early childhood on her cousin's farm in Pataskala. She was close with her family often being a second mother to some of her younger siblings. She loved to be around family. She was supportive and helped anyone in need including shelter, food, clothing, and donated often. She enjoyed drawing and coloring as a child which she continued well into adulthood including figures and characters. She went by Betty or Lee to friends. She made friends everywhere she went and had a very happy demeanor. She was always fun to be around and made efforts to enjoy life as much as possible.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Richard, Jennie Ann, Loretta, Carl, Tyrone, and Lorenzo Pack. Son Dwayne Hartgrove. Grandparents Carrie Hull, Prince Holliman, Jennie Galloway Pack, and William Archie Pack.
She is survived by children Virginia (LB) Hodge, Gary (Chrissy) Hartgrove, and Cassandra (Gentry) Hendrix. Niece/Daughter Natia Pack and Nephew/Son Troy Pack.
Grandchildren: Talisha & Andrea Hodge, Michael, Gary Jr, and Jordan Hartgrove, Ziyana Baker, Eliana, Gabriel, Autumn, Athan, Giada, and Osias Hendrix. Great grandchildren: Nikko, Julian, Mike Jr, and Maxx Hartgrove, Darieona Hodge, Daron Felton, and Emiya Brown. Sisters: Bernice Pack, Rosetta Cousar, and Glenda Steele. Brothers: William Alfred (Hannah), William Richard Jr, Melvin (Sheila) and Charlie Pack and a host of other relatives
