Leonard Carl Levert was born Tuesday, October 30, 1956 to Samuel Clinton Levert and Ora Lee Levert at Mercy Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born the eldest of two sons. Leonard was a student in the Columbus Public Schools System, where he attended Shepherd Elementary, Eastmoor Middle School and graduated from Eastmoor Senior High School in 1974. He gained recognition and received trophies and awards for his participation on the football team and the wrestling team. Leonard attended Rio Grande College in Rio Grande, Ohio, as well as The Ohio State University in his hometown of Columbus. He was very social. He enjoyed his friends, reading, watching movies and he had a love for puzzles. Leonard could make you laugh in a heartbeat and had a great sense of humor. He attended Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ. He was a great big brother to Glenn. His mom remembers how, at the age of five, they had to keep their eye on Leonard because he would constantly take baby Glenn from his bassinet; this was Leonard's way of loving and protecting his little brother. In recent years, Leonard was a resident of Minerva Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, his home away from home, because of the direct care he needed. On Thursday, March 28, 2013, Leonard made his transition at St. Ann’s Hospital of Westerville. He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Samuel and Ora Levert; brother Glenn Levert; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
