Leonard T. Lancaster, 76, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 in Columbus, OH. Born March 19, 1937 in Canton, OH, Leonard resided in Massillon, OH until 1987. While a resident of Stark County, OH, he was employed with the State of Ohio as a Parole Officer (1963-1967); Chief of the Akron Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (1971-1976); appointed by Governor James A. Rhodes to the Ohio Industrial Commission (1976-1988; Chairman of the OIC from 1983-1988); retired from state government in 1989 and as a Columbus resident, he started his private practice as an Attorney at Law who specialized in Worker’s Compensation and personal injury claims (1989-2002). Upon retirement, he actively pursued his love of golf by joining the Columbus Wedge Club with annual memberships with the Columbus Municipal Golf Courses, including Turnberry Golf Course, where he volunteered part-time. He is preceded in death by his father, McKinley L. Lancaster, Sr.; his mother, Agnes M. Wyatt (Leonard); his brother, McKinley L. Lancaster, Jr. He is survived by his children, Richard A. (Solestine) Lancaster of Charlotte, NC, McKinley L. Lancaster, Sr. of Canton, OH, and Lillian M. Lancaster of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Briana Lancaster, Corey Lancaster, McKinley L. Lancaster, Jr., Miles Mariah Gibson, and Joshua Lancaster; brother, Wesley (Shirley) Wyatt of Waynesburg, OH; sister, Donna Grace Wyatt of Pittsburgh, PA; and the mother of his children and grandchildren, Atty. Judith E. Barnes-Lancaster. He was loved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who live both near and far, including his special friend of many years, Cheryl Cooper of Blacklick, OH.
