Lester Leo Gore, Jr. was born on January 16, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of the late Lester Leo Gore, Sr. and Mary Brown Gore. He married Phyllis Greathouse-Gore on June 17, 2006. Their marriage produced a blended family of 6 children: Leland, Meika, Sonnetta, Tomika, Antonio and Melissa. Lester attended Marion Franklin High School. He was the quarterback for the football. He also played basketball. After high school he worked for Bob Daniels Car Lot, detailing cars. He later worked for Harris Properties, managing all of the buildings. He loved to play the guitar and sing the blues. He enjoyed cutting grass and maintaining friends lawns. Lester is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Greathouse-Gore, father Lester Leo Gore, Sr. , mother Mary Brown Gore, brother Charles “Fritzy” Gore, sisters Helen Gore, Mary Gore White, daughter Sonnetta Sturkey, grand-daughter Alexandrya M. Farmer, and brother-in-laws Bishop Ronald Bell, Deacon Dennis Galloway and A.D. Roberts. Lester transitioned March 17, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He leaves to mourn sons, Leland (Jackie) Farmer, daughters Meika Collier, stepson Antonio (Erica) Greathouse, Stevie (Yolanda) Fairfax, Ricky Fairfax and step-daughters Tomika Greathouse and Melissa (Jarrett) Austin. His brother Hiram (Yvonne) Gore, sisters Jean Galloway, Pastor Nina Gore Bell and Rosalie Gore Roberts. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He had soft spot for his great-granddaughter Honor “Chops” Hughley.
