Letha Lee Hamlet

November 3, 1951 — December 2, 2019

Letha Lee Hamlet was born November 3, 1951 to Leonard and Pearl Clark in Beckley, West Virginia. Lee grew up among eight siblings in the household. She was the adventurous one of the bunch. Lee met her husband, Preston T. Hamlet, while attending Stoco High School, from which she would later graduate. After graduation, Lee was offered employment with the Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Lee accepted the position and thus, she and Preston set out to begin their life in Washington. Preston and Lee found themselves saying "I Do" on February 12, 1972, and later welcomed their first son, Preston T. Hamlet, Jr. into the world. Six years later, as Lee was enjoying her new job and family, the couple found themselves welcoming their second son, Quennton D. Hamlet into the world. Once Lee's sons became of age, Lee began to focus more energy on her career. She was offered a position with OSHA as the head administrator, and remained with the agency until her retirement in 2006. Lee left the Department of Labor with 34 years of dedicated service. Soon after retirement, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. On December 2, 2019, Lee departed this earthly life while at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents Leonard and Pearl Clark, brothers, Leonard M. Clark, Jr., Bruce Clark, and Jesse Clark, and a niece Evelyn Reeves. She leaves to cherish her memories, sons Preston T. Hamlet, Jr. and Quennton (Tamika) Hamlet; sisters, Linda Hill, Deborah (Frances) Shaw, Martha (Norman) Hardy, and Mary Clark, grandchildren, Amina Hamlet, Adrian Mitchell, Zee'Yana Hamlet, Zee'Naya Hamlet and Zee'Niya Hamlet; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
