Lillie Mae Williams was born on June 26, 1930 to the late William and Mamie Jackson in Warren, Ohio. She was the eldest of nine children. In the 1960's through the 1990's, Lillie devoted her time to various political clubs including the Eleanor Roosevelt Club, as well as serving as President of the Democratic Women's Club. Lillie was very active with the Board of Elections, serving as the Presiding Judge of her district. She was also an active participant for the March of Dimes. Lillie provided drug counseling and touched many lives along the way. In her later years, Lillie developed a passion for serving bereaved families through her dedicated service in the funeral industry. She was a long time employee of the Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, where she acted as Administrative Assistant until her retirement. After retirement, Lillie continued her passion and worked for J. Martin Smith Mortuary. Lillie was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her most cherished moments were weekends spent with her mother and her sister. On Monday, April 16, 2012, at the tender age of eighty-one, she was called home to be with her Father. Lillie was preceded in death by her devoted husband James Carl Williams, parents William and Mamie Jackson, brothers, Svengali, Henry, Terrell, Lloyd, and Frank, and sister Angel. She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life, three children, Nicholas (Debbie) Williams, Deborah Williams, and Carla (Anthony) Jackson; grandchildren, Nicholas Williams, Jr., Tina (Nathaniel) Cleveland, Nikkia Williams, and Anthony Jackson; eight great grandchildren; brothers William Jackson, Jr. and Cheveliar Jackson; special sister-in-law Delores Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Celebration of Life 11 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Road, where the family will receive friends Sunday 6-8 p.m., and Monday 10 a.m. until the start of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
