Lillie Mae Thomas, born March 4, 1938, in Mathews, Alabama to the late LeVon Pettiway and Hattie Manuel-Pettiway, departed this life on December 16, 2011. At 18, she moved to Columbus, Ohio where she worked for the Sheraton Hotel, Downtown Lazarus, and retired from First Community Village in 2003. After retirement, she volunteered at the Asbury United Methodist Church working with other seniors. Lillie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1969. Her sass, wit, jokes, and love will be missed and cherished. Preceded in death by infant daughter Tracy, and brother Jerry Pettiway. She leaves three daughters, Inez (Thomas) Toney, Josclyn Pettway, and Lillie (Ronny) Hagwood, all of Columbus, OH; son Reginald (Lois) Thomas of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of other family and friends. A special thanks to OSU Medical Center Staff, Dr. Jeffrey Rose, Dr. Syed Husain, and Nurses Judy and Vivian for their gallant efforts during our mother's illness. Homegoing Celebration 12 noon, Friday, December 23, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave., where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the start of service. Rev. Victor M. Davis, officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
