Linda Vernicia Jones was born September 27, 1948 to Vernon Robert Jones and Willie Mae Thompson Jones, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest of nine children. Previously married to William Leroy Exson and George Wayne Murphy, Linda was the proud mother of two children, Daryl Kelly Exson and Troy Wayne Murphy. A graduate of the Sumner Academy of Arts and Science, in Kansas City, Linda was an extraordinary and inquisitive woman who lived and thought well beyond this world. As a single parent, she was employed by the University of Kansas Hospital for fourteen years, where she worked as a surgical pathologist and only missed two days of work. Linda later went back to school to further her studies and pursue a career in the field of Law. After becoming a Paralegal, she worked for a couple of law firms before relocating to Columbus, Ohio in 1995. Linda retired from the State of Ohio with over fifteen years of service in the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Attorney General’s Office. Linda had the sweetest soul; she had a remarkable outlook on life, in general, and gave unconditional love. On August 30, 2016, at the age of 67, Linda departed this life while at her residence in Pickerington, Ohio. Those who remain to cherish memories of Linda include her partner of 30 years, Dr. Iris J. Watkins; daughter, D. Kelly (Michael C.) Slocum; son, Troy; eight siblings, Vernon Jr., Brenda Mae, Gary Lee, Debra Kay, Nathan Edward, Willie Ray, Ricky Eugene, and Rozella Marie, all of Kansas City; four grandchildren, Quintin Jr., Brittany, Damien, and Colin; eight great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. She also leaves behind many friends, loved ones, and admirers who will continue to cherish her conversations and that special feeling brought about when met with her infectious smile. We will see you soon, Linda... God Bless you. Service: Private Arrangements Per Family Request Columbus, OH
