Lloyd Andre Rollins, 73, of Columbus, Ohio transitioned to God's heavenly kingdom on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Born to David Merrell and Fairy Louise, he was one of five children. Lloyd graduated from St. Mary High School in German Village. He attended The Ohio State University, Portland University, Maryland University in Germany, and received his bachelor's degree from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and transferred to the Department of State where he was sworn into U.S. Foreign Service, served for 27 years, and then retired. He was an Iranian hostage during the 1979 seige of the U.S. Embassy, Tehran, Iran in and received a Medal of Valor. Lloyd was a guest speaker at many high school events, universities and seminars. He is preceded in death by parents David and Fairy, brothers David and John, sister Sylvia. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; two daughters Patricia and Terri (William); five grandchildren, Lorenzo, Chelsea, Dean, Maliik, and Autymn; one great grandchild London; brother Lawrence (Mary Ann); sisters-in-law, brothers-in-laws, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
