He was born May 6, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA, and was a retired staff sergeant., United States Air Force; an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a devoted family man, retired from Anheuser Busch, and an animal lover. Predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Clara; wives, Geraldine (Gerri), and Charlotte Francis; sister, Irene Bright; brothers, George, Donald, and Sahib Salaam. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: loving and devoted daughter, Lloyda (Eric), son, John; grandchildren, John Calvin Aekins, Howard McCleary, and Jazmine Aekins; great-grand children, Zachary, Moravian, Sabien and Amari. Blended family, Ronda (Carnell), Talib, Lloyd, Rosalind, Brenda, Jacqueline (Thaddeus), Annette, Patricia, Sharon (Lloyd), Lucius (Charlene), Carolyn (Gene), foster child, Ronda, 30 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Samuel (Maria) Aekins; sisters, Ella (Frank II) Woodard, Ruth Sullivan, Barbara Sivells, Inayah Rashid; special nephews, Frank, III; Lamonte (Rita) Woodard, Virginia; brothers-in-law, John Charles Minter; four legged children, Dollar, Zach Taylor, a host of family, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
