Lou Ella Hance, age 86, born September 30, 1928 in Gladys, Virginia, departed this life May 24, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. In the early 1950's, Lou Ella moved from Charleston, West Virginia to Columbus, Ohio, where she became an established business woman and entrepreneur. She purchased her home, raised three beautiful children,and helped rear her grandchildren. After retiring from The Ohio State University, she became the proprietor of Linmoor Pizza, as well as a boutique where she provided services as a seamstress. At one time, she was also employed by Rockwell International. Lou Ella was a member of New Faith Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Elks of the World, as well as many church affiliated organizations. She had a passion for traveling and traveled with her club members as well as her family. As the family's matriarch, Lou Ella provided love, guidance, and instruction to all those in the family. She was a strong woman, who made a lasting impression on anyone that had the blessed privilege to make her acquaintance. Lou Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Bessie Murrell, brother, Edward T. Murrell, Jr., sisters, Edith Lou Boles, Mildred Rogers, and Ollie F. Gooch, and one great grandchild, Lentwan Smith. She is survived by her sons, Barry E. Hance and Bradford L. Hance; daughter, Deborah Y. Bosley; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
