Louise White, a cherished resident of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on Tuesday, March 24, 1936, Louise led a life devoted to her family, faith, and community.
Louise, fondly known as Baby Sister & Weezy, was a dedicated Nurses Aide, having served diligently at both the State Hospital and Children's Hospital, from where she eventually retired. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
A faithful member of Refuge Baptist Church and later Gay Street/Tabernacle Baptist Church (TBC), Louise was a beloved participant in both the TBC choir and the Passion Play choir. She greatly enjoyed taking part in the renowned The Lord's Supper Pageant Choir and cherished this involvement deeply. Her hobbies included solving word searches, traveling with friends and family, and indulging in her favorite television programs (game shows and court shows).
Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, carried on by her daughters, Linda Hendree and Gloria Woodard; her grandchildren, Shunnye Dunlap (Chanda), Ilungo Dunlap, and India Woodard (Carlton Reaves); her cousins, Elouise Washington, Lillian Tyner, and Angela Howard; numerous great-grandchildren and her dear friends, Mary Glason, Dorthea Brittman, Thelma Holland, Freida Brooks, Chris Dean, and members of the Columbus Black Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred McGill and William White; her daughters, Sylvia McGill and Larcena Martin; her father, Dave Perry; her mother, Willie Lee Livingston; and her granddaughter, Natasha Hendree-Williams.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Louise’s life at her Visitation, which will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. A Funeral Service will follow from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location.
Louise will be remembered for her kind spirit, gentle wisdom, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
