Lucille L. (Lovelace) Jones

May 16, 1928 — January 21, 2016

Lucille Lovelace Jones (Mom) born on May 16, 1928 in Concord GA to Willie Mae Johnson (Mae-Mae) and Charlie Lovelace. She would later reside most of her life later when relocating to Columbus OH from Kentucky. She left her earthly residence on the morning of January 21, 2016 to be among the other Angels to watch over us from heaven. Graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY . She accepted Christ and was baptized early in life to live as his faithful servant until she could no more. From that time she would call Hope Lutheran Church her place of doing good deeds for the Lord in which she enjoyed. Lucille was married to her late husband William Walker Jones for 24 yrs. until his death in 1972. They have five children. She worked for Ohio State University cafeteria 10 yrs., Ohio School for Deaf 5 yrs. and the former Lazarus (Macys) in the Chintz and Buckeye Room as one of the head cook's for over 40 years. During that time she had the pleasure of working with the late Bill Williams, founder of Glory Foods Inc. as he was her manager for at least 10 of those years. Lucille was a member of the 20 yr. club of Lazarus. She received the Village Maker recipient award in 2005 and was recognized for Outstanding community service in Driving Park in 2006. She belonged to CMACAO of the Eastside, Don't Get Around Much Anymore and Neighborhood Senior Citizens club. She was an active member in her church but more so in the community. Known as Mom to most who resided on Berkeley Rd and within the neighborhood who could count on her for almost anything just by asking. Through the many years, her home served as a place for exchange students from out of the country to those less fortunate that were homeless on several occasions so they would not have to sleep out in the cold during the winter months. To this very day, our mom was most appreciated for allowing the church she loves to continue storing aluminum cans that helps fund such things as school supplies for young children, toiletries for the homeless, health kits and the quilting ministry. However, if you received a two Book of Memories bill from Lucille at anytime in your life, you were very special as she gave those out and was always known to carry a few in her purse. This past Christmas would be the last year for the gift we look forward to the most, because of whom we received it from. RIH with all the other angels.
