Lucy Mae Farrow 1937 - 2018 “The most important and meaningful aspect of my life, is my family - L.M.F. 1969 - found handwritten in her Holy Bible. Lucy Farrow, age 81, of Westerville, passed away peacefully at home on November 28, 2018 after a brief illness. She lived life passionately, enjoying notable travels to Florida, Outer Banks, North Carolina, Stockholm, Sweden, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands with family members. She truly valued family as the foundation of a joyous life. She is the beloved and devoted wife of Ledrew W. Farrow, Sr., loving mother of Andre Kenny (Kelly) Farrow, Lavonya (Randy) Sandlin and Ledrew (Kim) W. Farrow, Jr. She is the precious grandmother of Cyreia Sandlin, Cyrus Sandlin, Parker Farrow, Ramsey Farrow, and Isadora Farrow. She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah and Liller Goodman, dear sister to the late Thelma, Noah Jr., Gladys, Myrtherine, Catherine, Richard, Dora, Donald, Reatha and Tereatha and survived by Percy, Mary, and Martha. She is survived also by many treasured nieces and nephews. Lucy graduated from Rosenwald High School, in Panama City, Florida, as well as Florida A&M University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Education. She completed graduate studies at the University of South Florida. Lucy was a teacher for over thirty years, starting her teaching career in Tampa, Florida. She also taught in Los Angeles, California, Cleveland, Ohio, and retired from the Columbus Public School System in 1998. She instilled the value of education in her students, children, and grandchildren - not only formal education, but the importance of strong character as well. A quote she admired - “Education is a private matter between the person and the world of knowledge and experience, and has little to do with school or college.” - Lillian Smith. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Tabernacle Baptist Church and always up for a discussion on the community, news, and current events. Lucy's family will receive friends during two visitation periods: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5th in the chapel of Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, and 11a.m.-12 p.m. Thursday, December 6th at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Her Funeral and Celebration of Life Services will commence promptly at 12 noon. We welcome your presence if able and appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
