Lula Oliver was born July 25, 1929, to Bedford Oliver and Addie Oliver in Burlington, North Carolina. On Saturday, September 7, 2019 an angel of God stopped by Mt. Carmel East Hospital to escort her home to be with the Lord. Lula was employed by Lucent Technologies, Columbus, Ohio, where she retired after over 30 years of employment. Her hobbies were traveling, bowling and preparing meals for various events. She was a member of The Red Hat Ladies, and the Marion Franklin Senior Center. Lula professed her belief in Christ at an early age. She was a long time member at the East Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. While there she served in many capacities. She was a member of the Usher Board and was President for a number of years. She was also a member of the Nurses Corp, Gospel Choir and Missionary Board at East Mt. Olivet. Subsequently Lula joined Second Shiloh Baptist Church in 2013 where she was active in the Wednesday afternoon Bible Study group and faithfully attended Sunday morning service until her most recent illness. She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters Emma Neal and Daisy Warren, ten brothers, and grandson Andre Smith Lula leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories, her devoted daughter Clara Jones; devoted grandson, Dominic Jones; great grandchildren, Kamari, I’yanna, and Dominique Jones; stepdaughters, Merwyn Smith and Emerald Smith; grandchildren, Martina Dean, Latrell Davis, Wyllon Robinson, and Wylique Robinson; great grandchildren Dre’Naya Morris-Smith, Maurice Dean, and Martel Robinson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Lula will be forever cherished and deeply missed.
