Luther Fletcher Jr

On Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Washington Adventist Hospital, Luther Fletcher departed this life to enter a better place. Luther Curtis Fletcher, Jr. was born on July 9, 1938 in Elverton, West Virginia, to the late Rev. Luther C. Fletcher, Sr. and Evelyn I. Fletcher. Luther was educated in the public schools in Fayette County, West Virginia. Church and school attendance was required in the Fletcher household. Singing was Luther’s passion. He began singing at an early age and continued to sing until his health began to fail. When Luther left Garten, West Virginia, he went to Columbus, Ohio, where he resided until the early 1970’s, when he relocated to the Washington, D.C. area. Most of his career involved working in the upholstery field. Luther was extremely talented when working with his hands. Luther leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Lutricia Fletcher, Sherri, Cheryl, and Gina; sons Kevin and William; grandchildren, Brenyea Fletcher, Barkley, Jermonte, Kelcie, Carmella, and Cynthia; great grandchildren, Jejuane, Tishei’yana, Tamera, and Jermontane; siblings, Mary, Belva, and Betty; devoted niece, Ansonia Fletcher; devoted friend, Janis Lomax; best friend, George Edler; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Luther was predeceased by his wife Geraldine Fletcher, grandson, Jejuane Fletcher, and brothers, Marshall and William Fletcher.
