Lynn (Mcclain) Locke

Lynn McClain Locke was born December 10, 1964 in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Christ the King and Bishop Hartley High School before graduating from Eastmoor High School in 1982. She went on to attend the University of Cincinnati where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Urban Administration and was initiated as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Most recently, Lynn resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she was employed as the Advocacy Program Manager for Disability Advocates, and served on the Board of Directors for Campfire Girls. Her advocacy and community outreach work allowed her to meet many different people and help communities learn to become more inclusive. Some of her other affiliations included Teen Moms of Preschoolers(MOPS) and the Gildas Club. Lynn enjoyed painting, attending lectures and concerts, hanging with family and friends, and indoor and outdoor fitness activities. In 2005, she completed a triathalon. She also had an interest in ministry and traveling. Lynn visited destinations as far away as Cuba and Dubai and had hopes of one day venturing to Australia and Vietnam. On July 16, 2017, at the age of 52, Lynn passed away while in Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by her daughters, Randi Locke and Morgan Locke; parents, Jean Barber and stepfather William Barber; siblings, Rodney, Karen, and Carmen McClain; former husband Randolph Locke; stepson Aaron Wright; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
