Madeline E. Graham was born May 14, 1927, in Trafford, Pennsylvania to Harry Smith and Polly G. (Lowe) Pruitt. She was called to her eternal home, Friday, February 7, 2025 at her residence in Gahanna, Ohio.
Madeline was a member of Travelers’ Rest Baptist church for many years where she sang in the choir and served as the assistant superintendent of Sunday School. She transferred her church membership to Love Zion Baptist Church to serve and worship along her mother. Madeline remained a faithful member of Love Zion until her passing.
After retiring from The Ohio State University, she regularly volunteered at her church in various capacities. Her volunteer work extended beyond the church walls with Meals on Wheels, Life Care Alliance, Franklin County Children Services as a foster parent in addition to other community organizations.
She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and cousin. Madeline was truly a person who loved people and always had an encouraging word to share with others.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mother Polly G. Pruit, father, Harry Smith, and her brother Joseph W. Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Larry Morton Sr. (DeLonda) and grandson LaRon; grandsons, Randall (Jelani), Larry Jr. (Tavoria), Brian and their mother, Earlene Morton. Eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, devoted cousins Sandy (Jerry) Brown, Mildred Tate, Mark O’Hara
The memory of Madeline will also be cherished by her extended family, nieces, a host of cousins, other relatives, church family, and devoted friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Love Zion Baptist Church, 1459 Madison Ave Columbus, OH 43205. Burial will process to Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
